The idea of DownloadAMixtape.com (or DAM for short) was born in 2010 with the aim of offering a platform for UK artists/DJ/labels to promote themselves and their music, whilst keeping in full control of the content. Imagine a YouTube for mixtapes!

Mixtapes are usually used by artists or DJs as a free promotional tool to promote upcoming full length albums, shows, concerts and anything else that they have in the works. In a highly competitive market where artists profiles can drop dramatically without consistent product releases, mixtapes can provide a way to keep a buzz going while in between projects.

DAM intends to have one place where artists can upload mixtapes and music, this content can then be downloaded by their fans and the websites users for free. All the content made available will be solely for promotional usage only, which means it will not be allowed to be redistributed or resold by the person that downloads it.

DAM also aims to create a community amongst fans and artists in which discussion is facilitated and encouraged. Weekly charts will let the industry and the fans know exactly who has the biggest buzz and who’s creating the best music in the UK, we feel this is done in a totally authentic way as its completely down to the users of the site.

We at DAM feel the UK has a great deal of musical talent and our goal is to promote  that throughout the world, so next time youre looking for a mixtape remember to DAM IT!!!
